Clear – Review

Clear is a to-do list application for iPhone that has enjoyed incredible hype surrounding it’s recent launch.
While it may seem strange for a productivity app to become so popular over night, Clear has made waves for good reason.

At it’s core, this app is about one thing; simplicity.
It’s so simple in fact, that it doesn’t even leave room for any typical iOS UI elements.
This is precisely what sets Clear apart.
More than just offering an easy to use to-do list, this app offers an entirely new multi-touch experience.

Gestures are the name of the game here.
Swipe to check off, delete, and clear to-do items.
Pinch to create new items and collapse lists.

This unique tactile interaction, along with the visuals and audio design combine to create a smooth and satisfying experience.

Again, simplicity is the philosophy at play here, you won’t find any sort of reminders or syncing features.
We feel like the fact they included the ability to create multiple lists was pushing it.

At $2, this is somewhat pricey for a product that offers fewer features than almost every competitor.

Personally, we wonder if the ability to add reminders to iOS’s native app via Siri makes the interface innovation here a bit irrelevant.

However, if you’re looking for a unique, fun, and dead simple to-do list, Clear might be exactly what you’re looking for.
